Comments:
For me the 2023 IARU had many ups and downs. Overall I am satisfied with it and
had good fun. A G1 CME shortly before the contest tamped down propagation for
the first half. The experiment in trying to alter my normal sleep hours to match
the IARU (starts here at 2 a.m.) ended up hurting more than it helped. Back to
the drawing board.
In 2022 I ran 600 watts and this year (with the amp awaiting a transformer) I
ran 100 watts. I set a target of 600+ Qs. It was harder to get runs going but
with S&P the Q rate wasn't bad at all. Actually, it's fun running barefoot.
The bands had picked up by 0500Z on the second day, the Q total was just shy of
500 with 8 hours to go, when I drove my XYL to the hospital for sudden legs
pains. Getting home with 30 minutes left (she's okay) the bands were great and
29 Qs were made on 40, 20 and 15 meters along with another mult. That was a fun
ending and thanks for the Qs everyone for KH6AQ (copied by many as K5BAQ).
509 CW QSOs, 92 total mults, 219,972 points.
FTdx-10 at 100 watts
Hexbeam up 33'
40 meter GP with remote ATU to tune on 40 and 80 meters
