Comments:
This was a great contest and 6m seemed to be busy the whole time, the QSO count
shows better rates than ever before, but the multipliers were just not there.
The 2m count is down nearly 40 Qs and a few mults from last year, I believe this
is mainly due to not being able to reach out and be heard. Sometime Sunday
morning the 2m KW stop producing power output and we only had a whopping 20watts
output. On 222 we did better than before by 1 QSO, but we lost probably 12hours
out of the contest with some weird malfunction that wouldn't let audio pass
from the FLEX 1500 into WSJT-X and vice versa, as well as what sounded like
distorted audio. I gave up troubleshooting and came back to it a few hours later
... after the frustration had passed and it miraculously started working again.
A few of the 222 Qs were on SSB, then a pretty close split between CW and FT8.
The 432 station worked flawlessly, but it seemed there were not many stations
there using analog, we're down only a few QSO , but same multiplier count. For a
first time ever, we went beyond 432 with a donated transverter from Bruce...err
Chuck NR2C and made a couple Qs there also, there's an intermittent RX issue
there, but it seems to show promise into the 33el looper that was donated to the
station by Keith VE3EG (thanks guys)! Since we got on 902, Hugh VA3TO brought
over his Kenwood TS2000x and we connected to the 55el looper that was donated by
myself(VA3ELE) to the club and made 7 Qs there as well. To top it off, adding
the micros wouldn't be the same without some 10GHz action. We managed to work 9
stations on 10GHz in 5 grids from ground level surrounded mainly by 2 story ware
houses in the industrial area where the VE3MIS club station is located. Lali
VE3NE got to work his first ever 10GHz QSO and via rain Scatter, he was super
thrilled and when things couldn't get anymore exciting, he saw a K5 station on
the WSJT-X decode window... OMG, we got a 2m ES opening and actually worked 2
stations, KG5UN and WQ5L, both on FT8.
Please look for us in up coming contests where we will be QRV hopefully upto
24GHz and maybe even higher.
