Comments:
That was excellent fun. Conditions were very good, with 15 metres being my most
active band. Ten metres was in the grip of the summer doldrums, so those in the
southern hemisphere got to be the centres of attention on ten.
I used the CK3 prefix, authorised to celebrate the coronation of our new King,
Charles III. The prefix confused many, and I had to repeat my call numerous
times. No, I was not KC3KG or K3KG. I was mis-spotted as YK3KG and YK2KG
several times. That added to my excitement and caused some disappointment for
others, who thought they had found a Syrian station. Lesson: always verify DX
spots. If it seems to good to be true, there's a reason.
I was distracted for a while on Saturday, when I got word of a D2 (Angola) being
heard in this area on six metres. I heard the D2, but didn't work him.
On the subject of gottaways, it was great hearing V85RH on 15 and 20 metres. It
would have been even greater to work him. Other excellent signals were heard
and worked from Japan and China on 15 and 20 metres. I also heard, but did not
work B1Z (BY1RX), where I operated in WPX CW and several other contests from
2010 to 2012. Wo hen gaoxing ting tamen. 我很高兴听他们.
On behalf of the CKs, CJs, GRs, MRs and 2Rs, I'd like to thank King Charles for
his well-timed coronation.
73,
Dave VE3KG
