Comments:
This was pretty much a disaster. It was drizzling, foggy, and the ground was
wet. I never have any noise, but there was some tonight. The SteppIR would not
tune low enough in the 40 M band. The inverted vee worked with the tuner, but
arced. In a way I wished for the end! There was no good run. Also QRM from the
DXpeditions working split. I struggled quite a bit. There were a few mults on
80 that I though I could get during the last 8 minutes, but the band was so
noisy I had to point the antenna in the correct direction to hear the guy who
was calling. The SAL30 might have helped. QRN was S9. I realized that there
was thunder, so glad to turn things off. I have to finish building some
chokes/bleeder inductors for the verticals. Lots of rain right after the end.
0326Z 41 QSOs
0330Z 70 QSOs
0345Z 100 QSOs (I usually reach 100 at 30-35 minutes into the session.
Whew!
