Comments:

I knew I would be missing some prime time Sunday morning until 1PM local or so.
I planned on entering M/S to fill this time (and other slots), give other local
hams a chance to play, and have the station on the air for longer for a bigger
score for the club. That did not work out, so entered solo.

I reconfigured my station recently to add a VA6AM triplexer and filter set to
the tribander. I chose the low power version to see how the setup worked for me
before (if ever) investing in the $2k high power setup. I am super pleased to be
able to work conicident high bands from the one antenna. I have not had a second
tri-bander for a while now and the $600ish expense got me most of the way back.
Of course not being able to split the rotation is a limit...run/work JA and SA
at the same time...but when working EU it is a real bonus.

Going with the low power tribplexer setup I have made the choice to keep the
amplifiers off. It is a very noticable difference in pile-up busting ability.
While I did first call quite a few stations I found myself getting beat by my
high power teammates and competitors. It forced me to listen a bit to the
pattern of the runner...picking up partials right off, full calls from the first
lull, or the most frustrating taking the very last caller from the endless fury
of callers. I do have to say I did feel loud most of the time though exept in
the larger of new mult meat late in the event.

I worked to wade more deeply back into SO2R again. I fat fingered a few
(okay...several!) times and blasted the wrong recording on the wrong radio at
the wrong time, but overall it was a big benefit. I did run into some issues
with N1MM+ this time which I will post to that group. I am assuming there is
something I had set up incorrectly, since N1MM is so widely used and generally
quite stable!

I am still so thrilled and amazed to be able to work stations from the far
corners of the globe. As well as all the strange phenomena of propagation...for
example working ZL / VK on 10m or 15m whisper quiet while not even hearing any
US stations which are clearly where my antennas are pointed, and clearly hearing
an HL but everyone between here and there is an inpenetrable wall of QRM.
Amazing stuff.

Thanks for the contacts!

73 es God Bless de KK1L, Ron <><
