Comments:
Been a rough week here. Ice storm took out the C19XR Tribander @ 100', the 6 el
15M yagi @ 90', the 20M dipole at 50', and 80m and 160m inverted vees. Lost
electricity for 5 hours on Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoon it went out again
and was not restored until 2030z Saturday. That power loss on Tuesday afternoon
apparently hosed two UPS devices, one for the FLEX & Contest computer, and
the other for the TV (more on that later). Was able to repair the 80m
inverted vee Saturday afternoon, and the only 20M antenna was the Tennadyne T-11
Log Periodic at 50'. Luckily the 40M 4 square survived the ice.
Set up the Sprint contest in N1MM+ and "changed" the memories to send
"Gator" instead of "Kurt" (from last September), or so I
thought. Must not have saved the changes as the first QSO sent Kurt. Had to
fix memories again.
30 minutes in to the Sprint, the power went out again for about 10 minutes.
Swapped the internet/router and cell phone repeater to the generator. When the
power came back on, rebooted the PC and Flex, and when I fired up N1MM+, the
"sudden" shutdown had wiped out all my settings and configurations in
N1MM+. Took about 10 minutes to get enough settings and serial ports configured
to get back on. Decided to leave the router on the generator as it takes about
5 minutes to reboot when it loses power. Lost 23 minutes from 0030Z-0053Z. At
0213z, the generator ran out of fuel and the router shut down, so had to
reconnect it to the mains, and reboot to get the FLEX 6600 and PGXL amp back on
line. Another 6 minutes lost.
Seems activity was down. Many Many unanswered CQ's and missed lots of jump
balls. Also, many keyboard fumbles. So it goes!
2 band changes. Thanks to all for the QSOs.
After the Sprint was over, had to go tend to the new TV/Sound System. Seems the
short power outage at 0030Z messed up the settings on that, and took about 45
minutes to get it going again. Now to get two new UPS devices. Power outages
suck. That beer afterwards sure was good!
73, Gator
