Comments:
Thanks for the QSO's! Friday night was a quiet atmosphere, appreciated! Not so
Saturday night, a bit noisy.
It was a RX antenna workout. I hade 3 to choose from on my urban Halifax QTH,
with a little help from the adjacent forested land over the back fence.
The antenna are a 200' BOG, an SAL-20, and a beta version of Mark's new antenna
a Centered Terminated Shared Ground Array, CT-SGA. All have their own footprint
with no overlapping on the forest floor. I have 26' elements on the CT-SGA on a
sloping, rocky NS forest floor. Both the SAL-20 and CT-SGA have a dedicated
controller in the shack. Feedline on all is RG-6 125-150' in length with a coax
switch at the operating desk to quickly switch antennas.
So, which works the best??, standard answer, "it depends". They all
have their moments depending on incoming angle of the received signal and the
direction of any local noise source. The TX antenna is a dual band 160/80m K2AV
FCP inverted L and at times it is the preferred RX antenna.
The more RX antennas at your disposal, the better!
73, Roger VA1RST
