Comments:
10 open early and much later than I had expected. Didn't do any good for the
contest, but JA's coming in S9 at 2340z. At least that propagation let me easily
pick up AK and YT. Strong signals still on 20 at 2030z drew me back for several
mults.
Able to get several runs going. Had done some work on 160 inv-L and it performed
very well on 160. So much so I sat down there running for a bit rather than 80
just for the novelty of it. I don't think that hurt my rate much though and the
43 mults on 160 definitely helped. The antenna work made it less effective when
using it on 80 though.
It was fun and motivating chasing my DDCC Mimosa teammates. I had a late start
due to other commitments (our local club hamfest is on this contest day every
year) and they had quite the lead by the time I reached the operating desk. But
I hoped they would run out of time at the end giving me a chance -- and that is
what happened. Had figured only a Part Time effort, but was able to leave the
hamfest earlier than expected and had enough time for 10 hours.
Too much trouble running SO2R. N1MM acted flakey with two keyboards selected.
Gave up on that early and went to one keyboard. Also am still getting
intermittent trips of antenna switch. Spent some time trying to solve those
problems again. Might have caught Andy, AA4JF if I hadn't done that. Because of
those trips I went to single radio shortly after giving up on two keyboards.
Didn't stop the trips though, but dropping my SO2R efforts let me keep a closer
eye on the trips so I could stop transmitting before things broke. Think I'll
just switch to single radio for a while.
