Comments:
Pretty good conditions -- ran QRP as I did back in 2013 and 2014, but this time
used spotting network (Unlimited Mixed Mode QRP Category). Icom IC-7300 at 5
watts to Hexbeam up at 32 ft -or- 88 ft doublet up near 40 ft high. Close to
95% Search and Pounce, primarily chasing strongest signals and needed mults!
Not quite the boom years of last solar cycle (peak years of 2011, 2013, 2014)
but 64 unique non-USA/VE DXCC entities were worked (18 different CQ Zones total)
with DX accounting for 46% of my QSOs. With solar flux index and sunspot
numbers rising to very near peak for this solar cycle, and with a low K-index
all weekend, it was a fine time to be back contesting on the 10 meter band!
Solid Europe opening each morning - made 146 Europe QSOs total (76-Day 1, 70-Day
2). Band opened slowly around sunrise (1200z here), with Europe mostly gone by
1515z. Less than 10% of my Eu Q's occurred after 1500z.
E-skip opening Friday night only, primarily the 1st two hours. Netted about 46
non-local QSOs/21 mults... mostly TN, AL, IL, KY, and a few other upper Midwest
and Southeast states. A few (like NC, OH, WI) were never worked again.
Most QSOs domestically during the contest were with TX (31), CO (22), CA (19 -
mostly on Sunday) and RI (12 - the locals!). Only successful backscatter Q was
VE3EJ for lone ON mult - great ears, TNX!
Seemed slightly better conditions Sunday to the south/southwest as I added new
mults in XE, TI and mainland South America CE, CX, FY, HK, LU and PY.
Many thanks for copying my QRP sigs!
