A long story here to tell, but I will post that elsewhere.
All in all very happy with the results, but fell well short of my goal of 10K
qsos. Still a personal best score by far. The rate dropped like a rock the first
night and I knew I was done.
I was so tired.. couldn't get to sleep before the contest. just watched a
movie.
Fell asleep in my chair numerous times on Sunday, sending a string of
"dahs" over and over again with my hand on the paddle. God knows what
that must have sounded like on the air.. :) 10 days of station work caught up
to me.
And I need a new chair here.. my arm was numb all weekend from elevating it too
high. Either that or I need spinal surgery. A chair is cheaper.
Congratulations to all the players, this was one of the best set of conditions
I've seen. I think N6MJ or KL9A could have broken their own records easily.
AA3B continues to amaze with an incredible low power score. If I didn't push he
would have beaten me with no amp!
And great scores yet to be posted from EA8RM and CR6K.. I checked the scoreboard
after the contest. Just fabulous efforts by both. Next year I will try to post
during the event. There is now Wifi available here which is fantastic.
They installed it literally 6 inches from the 160 TX ant though. One dit of a KW
on 160 and I think the entire island loses internet. (this is a relay station
point).. This has to be fixed for next time I hope.
All the work we did this year paid off, the station worked almost flawlessly.
Still chasing line noise though, it was pretty bad at times. We found the pole
on Friday, but they couldn't get the bucket truck there so they gave up.
More to come.
Special thanks to K3NM and K5ZD for all the help this year getting the station
back to full speed after a 2 year absence. And as always to V44KAI and V44KBP
for their local support.
73, Andy N2NT/V47NT/V47T
