For those that read my 3830 post about the CW SS:
https://www.3830scores.com/showrumor.php?arg=Tka5znvqscyvk
I kind of hinted I might go portable for SSB - I really was not sure what I
would do. The week before the contest I did check if cabins were available
and they were not. If they had been I might have rented one and done a
repeat of the CW weekend. But that did not happen.
I had a good time operating the contest. Overall conditions were pretty
good. 40 meters went a bit long and 15 meters was also too long for me
to spend much time there other than doing some S&P. I tried to start on
15 but was not getting very good answers and I left after 2 contacts and
went to 20 meters. The first 30 minutes were very good but then the
hour kind of fell apart. In the end rates were pretty good.
VA7RR, K5WA and W7WA were keeping me going they all got off to really great
starts. I was pretty sure that W7WA would catch up with me and he got close. I
think if he had gotten a sweep I suspect that Dan's historical error rate would
move him ahead of me after log checking.
It was great to hear N6TR in there all weekend as well.
I did not hear VY2TT until late into the contest but he was doing well and
it is always possible for him to do well on Sunday.
The other big unknown on Sunday is how much off time people have taken.
I find this always adds a bit of suspense to your real place when you hear
other peoples serial number.
All of these things make this contest a lot of fun for me.
