Comments:
After 3 years of permutations we got the radio shack
(construction booth) on its proper destination next
to the lab/workshop. When firing up, all equipment
was cold: the IC-761 had trouble tuning, following
the optical encoder (erratic jumps in QRG). Also it
was not able to send the relay signal to the linear.
But then at mid-CWT, while Chas K3WW was not able
to pick me up on 14 MHz, I tried it again: success.
Seemingly 21 MHz was pretty weak, so I tried the last
minutes on 7 MHz, and there the IC-761 failed again
to feed PTT/SEND to the linear (Amp Supply LK-550Z).
The poltergeist is still in the Dentron MT-3000A, so
I have to lock one slowly moving knob (screwdriver).
The antenna is a vertical with parasitic directors
for 7 and 14 MHz. Like before the industrial QRN is
severe, needing a modern NR (like with the IC-7300).
X-rays peaked C2-level during CWT. Expected better MUF.
Cheers/73, Zaba OH1ZAA #1856 CWops
