Comments:

WOW, WHAT GREAT BAND CONDITIONS. THE LAST TIME I REMEMBER 10 BEING THIS GOOD
WAS IN 2012. CONDITIONS ARE PREDICTED TO ONLY GET BETTER. HOWEVER AS 10 GETS
BETTER 160 BEGINS TO SUFFER FROM DECREASED SIGNALS AND HIGHER NOISE LEVELS AS
EXPERIENCED AT THIS QTH THIS WEEKEND. WE DID WORK A FEW EUROPEANS, A COUPLE
AFRICANS AND SOME SOUTH/CENTRAL AMERICANS ALONG WITH MANY VE’S. WE ENTERED
THE MULTI MULTI CATEGORY TO HAVE FUN, MAKE POINTS AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT
BAND CHANGE RULES.

WE TRIED OUT SOME NEW “INEXPENSIVE” “DJ” TYPE HEADPHONES WITH MOD MICS
ATTACHED TO THEM. THE HEADPHONES WERE QUITE COMFORTABLE WITH PLENTY OF PADDING,
A SLOWLY ROLLED OFF LOWER BASS END WHICH WE DON’T USE ANYWAY, A SLIGHTLY
BRIGHT MID RANGE WHICH DID WONDERS FOR SSB INTELLIGIBILITY, AND OUR MODERN DAY
RADIOS ROLL THE HIGHS OFF ABOVE 3200 Hz ANYWAY. AFTER INITIAL EQUALIZATIONS
OF THE MOD MICS ONLY ONE EQ RANGE WAS FARTHER ADJUSTED SLIGHTLY AND A WE DID
RECEIVE UNSOLICITED REPORTS OF GOOD AUDIO. THE MOD MICS SEEM TO MAINTAIN THEIR
SOUND QUALITY EVEN WHEN SOME OF OUR OPS GET A LITTLE EXCITED AND SPEAK AT A
HIGHER VOLUME!

I WAS AMUSED AT THE FREQUENCY FIGHTS BETWEEN DX TO DX AND DX TO US. IT REMINDED
OF A STORY ABOUT TWO MEN WHO MET ON A ONE WAY BRIDGE. ONE MAN YELLED OUT “I
NEVER BACK UP FOR A FOOL.” THE OTHER MAN YELLED OUT “THAT’S OKAY, I
ALWAYS DO.” GRANTED, THERE WAS NOT A LOT OF BAND SPACE THIS WEEKEND BUT
HAVING PARTICIPATED IN THIS SPORT FOR OVER 50 YEARS I CAN HONESTLY SAY IT’S
JUST NOT WORTH IT.

ON A LIGHTER NOTE, OUR TEAM WOULD LIKE TO COMPLEMENT THE TEAM AT K3LR. ON EVERY
BAND WHERE WE FOUND YOUR SIGNAL, YOUR “AUDIO” WAS EXCELLENT. THE SOUND WAS
CRYSTAL CLEAR, TOTALLY INTELLIGIBLE AND NOT OBJECTIONABLE IN ANY WAY. THE
CLARITY WAS MAINTAINED INDEPENDENT OF SIGNAL STRENGTH. WELL DONE GENTLEMEN.

OUR CREW SET OUT TO HAVE A GREAT TIME AND WE CERTAINLY DID MANAGING TO ACHIEVE
DXCC ON 10,15 AND 20 PLUS THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT TNX TO N3BPB AND HER
GRANDDAUGHTERS. WE THANK ALL THOSE STATIONS THAT CAME BACK TO US.

73 FROM OUR LITTLE CREW, WT3K, KB3VQC, N3DPB, WA3EKL
