Park portable - KX3 & vertical EFHW in a tree.
As good as conditions were last week, this week's CWT was not Hawaii
QRP-friendly. I noticed that the K-index had spiked to 4, and that's just enough
to wreck a 20m session. Only 2 RBN monitors were picking up my CQ's - KH6LC on
Hawaii Island, and VE6JY. Most of my calls to CQing stations were either not
heard at all, or responded to with "?" or "AGN."
Had a brief QSO with Walt KC8J just before the test, but then he couldn't even
hear me at all when I called him after 0300. I worked Stan AH6KO on the Big
Island pretty easily. I think conditions were improving by 0330, but I
understand that everyone migrates to 40 and 80 to maximize rates/scores.
Will try again next week - Aloha and 73/72!
Bob NH6O
