Comments:
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. I (N3UM)
did SOLP in the Aug. 2022 NAQP CW test. My goal; beat my 8/21 CW
NAQP result. I did it; 1.1X the Qs and 1 more mult for 1.11X the
claimed score. And, I was not Assisted as I was in ’21; we lost
internet to the shack. I made up for no skimmer spots in 2 ways;
10 hrs BIC vs 8.5 last year, and adding a P3 panadapter to my
K3s. That gave faster S&P rates than tune and listen; I called
loud stations first, wasting no time on weak ones or dead spots.
At start, few but loud 20-M sigs, from GA & IN out to CA and WA.
I ran 18-1915Z for 74 Qs, a just-OK 60/hr. Run rate died, so I
did S&P for 45 Qs on 20 M, 25 on 15 M, and 7 on 40 M for 151
total Qs at 2135Z QRT to eat.
After supper, 40 M was great; from 2325-0149Z I ran for 203 Qs
in 2.4 hrs, 84.5/hr! A 20-min. BK, then S&P got 51 more 40-M Qs
at 49/hr by 0311Z.
My run rate was also great on 80 M 0317-0441Z; 115 Qs at 82/hr.
I then got 22 S&P Qs on 80 M 0448-0526Z, a not-bad 47/hr. Back on
40 M 0530-0547Z I scraped up a last 10 S&P Qs and hit my 10-hr limit.
On all bands I got 47 states + DC & 5 VE Pv; missed AK, ID, and NM.
