Yaesu FT-891 with aluminum 6m 1/2 wavelength dipole
Yaesu FT-817ND with Elk 2M/440L5 log periodic
130' ASL in Andover, Mass.
6m enhancement between 1900-2000 EDT local time Saturday allowed DX and good QSO
rate. Other than that conditions were flat with mostly local grids.
Sunday afternoon I modified my 6m dipole deck railing mount to raise it up and
out horizontally another 3 feet away from the metal railing. This may improve my
radiating pattern which has been unpredictable. The relocation did seem to make
it easier to reach FN31, so maybe better.
2m did OK early afternoon on Sunday picking up an extra couple of grids.
I like the CQ WW VHF because it focuses on just the two bands where I have good
equipment. In spite of the mostly flat conditions the result was still a decent
QSO count overall and good DX during the brief opening.
Thanks for the QSOs.
