Comments:
I was busy with other stuff during most of the day but managed a few dozen QSOs
off and on. I got on in the evening not intending to stay at it very long. I
ran on 40m for a while with some modest success and grabbed all the mults I
could hear which was most of them. After that I thought I should drop down to
80m and at least grab the low hanging fruit; mults, 5 pointers, 3 pointers.
After that I noticed that 20m was showing a lot of activity again Around 11:30
pm EDT (2330 UTC) I went back to 20m and was able to S&P a bunch more
stations. A couple minute before midnight I thought I'd try and run to see what
I might scare up. I had a great 2 hour run with 241 Qs. They were lined up
like traffic at LAX and just kept coming. I love 20m in on summer nights when
the propagation is good. I heard and worked everything but Asia and Africa; VK,
ZL, Europe, NA, etc. Many EU were stronger than U.S. A ton of UA/R stations.
This was all with 650w and a fan dipole. No beam to turn. It was like eating
jelly beans; hard to stop once you got going. I kept thinking, "it will
die off in a minute" but it went on and on.
I did way more than I thought I would when I got up on Saturday morning. I was
sort of "radioed out" from operating as a 13 Colonies station the
whole week before.
