Comments:
My third attempt at this contest. Wow, what a difference an actual 6 meter
antenna makes. Made more contacts and worked more grids than I had forever to
date! (Don't do much 6 meter since we're generally not at the home QTH during
the summer.)
Things started out slowly but improved as the weekend went on. Finally, Sunday
evening I was able to do some running. The band had finally opened up to the
Northeast, Midwest and West coast a bit. I always enjoy observing the changing
conditions with time on 6 meters (as long as it's open to somewhere!)
Had to unplug a couple times for passing thunderstorms, and learned that the
antenna does not like rain - loud rain static while it's raining and a detuning
effect when it's wet. (Since the antenna is on a push up mast I could reset the
tuning by shaking the mast after the rain stopped.)
Thanks to all for the QSOs!
