Thanks a ton to Phil KT3Y for allowing me to use the KP2M station via the remote
hookup. I would have preferred being there, as I was just in VP5, but getting
to KP2 last minute during spring break season is not easy - nor is it
inexpensive. Its a terrific station that performs amazingly well and holds its
own against all of the aluminum heavy stations around the world.
A great weekend for contesting. The station worked well and conditions on the
bands were good. Looking back, this was probably my first serious single op
effort in about two years. I felt good being back in the chair, but I also felt
very jittery at times. There were a couple of unenforced errors owing to rust
and head fog.
Some crazy rates, some odd incidents, and lots of fun propagation openings. I
look forward to the time when we can work our UR friends and work other stations
without the taint of global politics when calm and sanity prevail again.
Congrats to all the scorers, and especially to the Caribbean competition who I
am sure will post at some point.
