Comments:
Third time I have done this contest from my basement. First time with High
Power.
Between POWER & dare I say EXPERENCE, my scores increased by a factor of
~SEVEN! I was able be run for ~75% of my contacts. Being a WPX contest there
were a lot of domestic contests, less than ~half, but the beam was always
pointed towards Europe or South America. Even made contacts to Thailand &
New Zealand pointing at Europe!
15M was the powerhouse this contest, delivering about 40% of the overall
contacts. There seems to be some intermittent interference on 20M in my
neighborhood when the beam is pointed about northerly direction. And once
again, the Laws of RF Physics made clear the point that my station is not set up
for DX low band competitions. The only non-US contacts made on the low bands
were mostly 40M to Canada.
Thanks for all the contacts and polite & VERY PATIENT operators. It always
amazed me our SSB contests are in English, and English is not everyone’s
native language. The Ham Radio World is quite impressive!
Radio: FLEX 6400 & Power Genius XL Amp
