Comments:
I was looking forward to this weekend since Tim offered it to me SOAB as he was
traveling to K3LR's M/M operation. I get a little worried watching the Solar
Indices as it really affects us out here in the West. When I first learned the
ropes at Tim’s station on 2BSIQ, I missed an important function switch on the
K6AM SO2R Auto Audio box. This provided full audio in both ears of the side that
was not xmitting. Wow!! What a difference this made from only hearing the
opposite side in one ear and the side tone from the xmitting station. This
worked really well when there was small and loud callers to keep in synch. It
worked great for the Asian runs. Thanks John!
For some reason at this QTH, the European openings were not really good,
especially Saturday morning. Doing SOAB without spots from out here is a little
rough but well worth the challenge. I was surprised getting over 100 mults on
day 2 while doing some normal SO2R work. Near the end of the contest things were
so slow while running on the high bands and not finding many guys to work
S&Ping. I dropped down to 40 meters and grabbed a handful of European Q’s
netting a few mults and luckily I was able to get a 5Z4 for my last Q and Mult.
Thanks to Tim for giving me the opportunity to work this fantastic station
again, the station worked flawlessly from my 48 hours of nonstop action!! The
Icom 7610's worked great as usual.
Also thanks to everyone around the world for all the Q’s. Looking forward to
seeing everyone in WPX SSB in March as ND7K will be back with a great roster of
ops again for Multi-Multi.
