K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. As the only
available CW op, I (N3UM) did SOHP Assisted in the 2022 CQ 160 CW
test. Wet freezing snow kept me QRT Fri. I live a short walk or
drive from the shack, but paths and roads were unsafe until Sat.
As fresh meat Sat. PM, I made a flying start; 10-min rates ~130/hr.
I ran 2231-0023Z at 117/hr for 219 Qs. A short break, then I ran
again 0033-0108Z at 106/hr for 63 Qs. At 0108Z I had 282 Qs, 37
St/Pv mults out to UT, and 2 Ctys, in SA and NA.
I then clicked spots 0116-0306Z for 75 Qs; just 41 Qs/hr, but 9
more St/Pv mults out to CA and AB plus 1 SA and 3 NA Ctys. After
an 18-min. break I ran again 0323-0358Z at 80/hr for 47 Qs but
just 2 mults. I clicked spots 0401-0453Z for 29 final Qs plus LA,
MT, & NM. The very last QSO was OK7K, my only EU.
I saw many EU spots too weak to work, and heard few pileups of
W/Ks calling them. To the West I got 5 AZ and 4 CA Qs, but none
in NE, SD, ID, OR, WA, WY, AK, or BC. Kp of 3 in all but my first
1.5 hrs made most far-West signals weak, with QSB.
I got 7 VE Pv mults. My 433 Qs were better than I did in 4 of 6
years doing Multi-Op with W3GB. I did ~2 hrs more BIC in those
years, and we got tens of Cty mults vs 8 doing two nights vs one.
