As I was have a terrific run on 80M, I was thinking to myself that its a shame I
still do not have a suitable antenna for 160M to even better my score, my trusty
and dated Yaesu FTDX3000 suddenly stopped putting out any RF ... apologies to
N1CC as I just could not finish our QSO. The other modes work just fine (CW, AM,
RTTY and even FM) but SSB is dead. When I mean dead, rig goes into PTT, but no
RF output no matter what I do, which probably means the finals weren't blown,
but maybe a mixer in the audio chain?? Don't know yet. Considering the vintage
of the radio and depending what is wrong and the fact that I was planning to
upgrade my rig after my tower goes up this year (as long as there are no further
Covid delays ... that's another story). I definitely have had some bad luck with
my equipment in the last couple of months ... my SPE 1.5 kFA blew a final
transistor 15 minutes into WAE RTTY and now this ... I sure had fun while I was
on the air. Thanks for the QSOs everyone and apologies to Tony VE3RZ as I think
we may have doubled on a couple of occasions. 73
