Comments:
My 6th RTTY RU. LP RTTY only -- which I do enjoy as a
"laid-back" contesting mode -- one of the few where I
participate unassisted. However, things didn't start well.
Setting up Friday night (to be sure everything worked) I
discovered that the RTTY front end I have always used:
N7YG's Digital Engine, no longer worked on Win7. I had
to quickly download Fldigi and set it up. I found no
RTTY sigs Friday night, so I started the contest without any
Fldigi experience. Qs were slow for most of the afternoon
as I read the manual and played contest. By Sunday night
I liked Fldigi more than DE.
Missed my best score (2020) by 5 Qs and 8 mults. I never
heard ME, DE, DC, WY, and ND, and the RI station never heard
me. And forget AK on 80 -- my last state for 5BWAS.
I always find it motivating to chase Ken, WO1N, on the
scoreboard; for the first time I beat him! (Well, I never
chase him on CW...)
