Comments:
ARRL 160 is always one of my favorite contests. Single OP is not preferred, so
maybe we can get our team together for a M/S entry next year. Humm, I said that
last year also.
Night one was very active with the first 4 hours Q rate averaging over 150 with
the best hour at 189. The first EU was in the log 15 minutes after the starting
gun. I had visions of a fantastic EU evening. There was good EU activity but
not like expected. I stayed up for big signal EU sunrise but that was a
non-event, so off to bed for a few hours. Saturday morning started about 1030
UTC. A big THANKS to JA3YBK for responding to my CQ and adding the JA mult. But
nothing heard from the usual weekly NA sunrise VK, ZL or HL gang.
Night two was certainly not like night one. The noise level was way up and the
rates reminded me of Sunday afternoons for SS. Took a break to have dinner with
my wife and watch the end of a football game. Then, since I was tired, QRN up
and Qs rates down I shut down early at 2200 local, 0300 UTC. I am sure that
cost me several mults and many thousand points. Sunday morning started here
once again around 1030 UTC and added several more Qs but no DX.
In the end, I did reach my goal of beating my last years Qs, mults and score.
Never heard NNY, MB, AK or NT. Thought for sure 3 of them should have been in
the log.
Looking forward to CQWW-160 CW in January.
Rig: K3S, P3, Acom 2000A
TX Ant: Shunt fed Rohn 45
RX Ant: Several beverages
Thanks for the Qs and fun!
73,
Bruce N1LN
