Comments:
A last minute problem meant we could not travel this year. So we decided to
operate low power multi-single from home.
I had reworked the antenna switching earlier this year. We have two tribanders
and they can be fed as a stack through a triplexer or split with one antenna on
each radio.
The station is configured for SO2R. I removed one of the radios and put it on
the desk with a notebook computer. I connected it to the antenna switch and
controller. I made a couple minor changes in the configuration file because
normally the radios are interlocked and that's not the case for multi-single.
I ran people and Charlotte chased multipliers.
I didn't know how much time I would be able to operate. The online scoreboard
showed another US station in the category, NJ4P.
At the beginning of the contest NJ4P pulled way ahead of us. I tried to keep up
but couldn't. Apparently they were part-time and I was able to get ahead when
they were off the air. Live score competition is good stuff.
Conditions were pretty good, making for a fun contest. Sometimes I can't run on
20 early in the opening but that wasn't a problem on Saturday and wasn't too bad
on Sunday. 15 opened nicely both days and we caught some European multipliers
on 10. 80 was pretty quiet here and I was surprised at how well we were able to
work Europe.
I really need to do something about a 160 antenna. Maybe next year.
