Comments:

Antenna problems were discovered on Friday that were unfixable until Saturday. I
ended up replacing the existing wire vertical with an 85ft mostly-vertical wire
into the trees, with traps for 20m and 40m to make it 3/8-wave on those bands.
It modeled well on all bands and indeed performed pretty well, better than a
40/20/15 EFHWA put up in a better location, but the remote tuner wouldn't load
it on 160. Still was slow going with 100w, all S&P, I didn't think the bands
were anything special. Signals on 15 jumped way up mid-afternoon Sunday for
about 20 minutes but during that time I could hardly get any answers other than
OH/SM strong polar Q's. It was fun to finally get a little on-the-air time. My
project this week will be to get a base loading coil built for 160m next
weekend. Other very notable event here, I put a new Flex 6600 into the shack on
Saturday, replacing the 6400 I had!
