Comments:
First SS full time participation for me, so I was curious to see how things pan
out. I had worked on troubleshooting a Win-Test bug the week before and
accidentally started with CW Auto Sending enabled, which caught me by surprise
and screwed up my first few exchanges, until I found the path to turn off the
setting. From there, things worked out pretty well, without any more issues or
glitches. Most operators followed the suggested sequence and I hope the ones who
mixed things up (either by changing the exchange order, leaving out their call
sign or sending things twice) have realized that not following the convention is
a bad idea.
I didn't anticipate any action on 160m, but was hoping for some 10m activity,
but that didn't happen. 15m seemed open for quite a while, but every time I
checked, I only heard the same guys calling and I was not able to get any decent
run going myself.
Being unassisted, I was curious if I was going to get a clean sweep. The last
sections missing were NT and PE. I found VY1CO on 15m Sunday afternoon and was
called by three more NTs later that day, but lucked out when my only PE (VY2DP)
called me on 20m about an hour after I worked the first NT.
Conclusion: this was fun and I hope to be able to be back next year, which
depends on my motivation to crank up my towers before CQWW.
