Comments:
Only 31 Europeans this time. Fast and QSB and QRN main culprits. Instead of one
of three or four exchange attempts which made it above the noise, only one or
two characters out of four or five. That's really rough on a grid square
exchange.
RX antenna on Europe would have made a big difference this time. All the QRN was
from one direction all night.
West coast was late showing up, and pretty weak, besides on other side of
mid-west QRN storms.
Never managed to find K7RAT on my S&P sweeps. First time I've missed finding
Tree in a long time.
New PC screen thingy was OBS suite display of P3 (SVGA screen output to video
capture card) on PC screen window next to N1MM bandmap showing last three hours
of worked S&P calls (spot timeout set to 180 minutes). Knowing I had worked
a station on the P3 waterfall frequency in the last three hours really cut down
on time listening to calls I worked already.
If I decided to skip a pileup on a frequency with a station I hadn't worked, I
could click back to it at any time if I had typed the call sign into the entry
window.
The P3 SVGA display output can show four minutes of waterfall which will allow
you to see weak signals which peak now and then on the display. Including some
displays of QSP signals I could not copy. If I couldn't copy, I typed N11 or N12
... N19, etc in the entry window before I tuned away and the bandmap would put
the N11, N12 on the bandmap and I could click back to it.
All that made a big difference for operating S&P unassisted. A way to
"keep clickable notes". Now just get the time and WX to put up RX
antennas.
Thanks for all the patience and repeats.
K3/P3 + KPA1500
Inv L at 66 feet over FCP at 11 feet.
