Comments:
Despite the boring exchange, this contest was lots of fun form me.
My goals were 24 hr BIC, 1000 Qs, 1M pts, and I made all three with a little to
spare.
I spent about 1 1/2 hours on 20M Friday evening before it was clear that 40 was
the place to be. I had pretty good luck for about 3 hours and even managed a
decent run at one point. At around 3:30am I switched to 80M for about a 1/2 hr
before turning in. It was fun to work KH6ZM on 80M.
I didn't get started until about 11am Saturday, but stuck to it for about 12
hours. My best run of the contest was on 20M starting about 5:30pm where I
managed 141 Qs at a rate of 81/hr. Band noise and multipath was low enough that
it was almost always possible to pick at least one call out of the pileup.
After church Sunday morning, I got back to it around 10:30am. The bands weren't
in as good shape as Saturday, and it was tough to get traction. So I spent much
of the day S&P on new mults and it was fun and pretty productive. Compared
to last year, I improved my QSO total by about 50% but ended up with more that
twice the points.
Yet another motivation to get better wire on 80M - before the snow falls.
Thanks for all the Qs!
Rick
