Comments:
The 2021 Ohio QSO party is my first radio activity since field day.
The trend of less radio in the past couple of years seems to be
continuing. I'm not sure of all the reasons, but various other
aspects of life leave less time for radio projects. Maybe I will
enjoy a reversal of this trend when I finally retire (no specific date
yet set).
I did nothing to improve the station and minimal maintenance to keep
stuff from degrading. Nevertheless my remote Beverage switch could
use an overhaul since it seems not to switch antennas. Thus my
hearing on the low bands might have been impacted, although one might
not be able to tell given the high QRN levels.
It was much harder to follow the mobiles this year, probably because
the mobiles were having much greater success on the higher bands.

I had 26 160 meter QSOs. They are added to the 1 15 meter QSO in the
3830 score summary.
Since the ham radio software world was not yet adapted to the few Ohio
QSO Party rules changes of the past few years (DX is a multiplier and
160 is a band, I'll have to calculate my own score again:
506 * 119 * 2 = 120428
This is one of my lower scores in this contest. I am guessing that
the considerable noise kept many participants away from the bands.
Again there were a lot of dupes which I attribute to confusion about
whether or not K1LT is a different call than K1LT/8 (as determined by
logging software). Maybe next year I will try operating without the
/8 and see if there is a good trade off between the QSOs lost because
someone thinks I am not in Ohio versus the time wasted working dupes.
Equipment: K3S, P3, Alpha 8410 loafing, 2nd K3, P3, and tribanders and
verticals.
