Comments:
Well that was… OK. Not great, but OK. The elevated solar activity and good
propagation at the end of last year were unfortunately not duplicated for this
weekend so the higher bands were reduced to bit parts. Most of my time was
spent on 20 during the day, with the occasional "smash and grab" foray
to 15 and 10 for a few multipliers. The low bands were particularly good here
on Friday night. Luckily the snow and ice earlier in the week didn't cause any
antenna problems. The only equipment failure was the shack computer, which went
BSOD around 6:30 pm on Sunday and messed up the chase for JAs during a nice
opening to Asia on 20 m. This was my first time operating assisted during a
major contest, so perhaps my ancient PC was displeased at being overworked!
