Comments:
Primarily S&P, but with some short-lived "runs"
Radio: Icom IC-7610 - 100 watts
Antennas: SteppIR DB-36 (stuck on 20m) at 70 ft
Optibeam OB16-3 tribander at 50ft
Simple A/B switch between antennas
Saturday morning 20m was open to all of Europe, but with universally weak,
fluttery signals. Sunday morning, signals were stronger with no flutter, but far
fewer EU DX heard.
Operated Friday evening and Saturday from home. Sunday remoted back to home.
Used Icom's RS-BA1 remote control software and IC-28 tuning knob over the
Internet via a network link direct to the radio to control the radio and access
audio. Used the usual USB connection between the logging computer and the radio
and then used remote desktop software to access the logging software. This
approach avoided the problems with CW generated over a network link, so not
hearing the CW sidetone was less of a problem. The 7610 allows simultaneous
control via both a network connection and a USB connection so both the remote
control software and the logging program can control the radio.
