Comments:

Very happy with the progress we made with the station and with the operators. We
were able to implement some of the things we have learned with N1MM and a group
of largely inexperience RTTY contesters is starting to get some experience.

The weather was our challenge this time. On Thursday we started getting ice in
the area. I notice the 40m beam starting to sag and decided to try to rotate the
tower to knock off some ice. I did not realize the rings were frozen and before
I could turn off the rotor the chain and popped off the Prop pitch rotor. Steve
K5ZP came over before the contest and we were able to get the chain back on.
However, we only had about 30 degree of range before the top rings started not
turning with the bottom ring. So we started to contest with antenna coverage
from 0 to 30 degrees. The ice stopped Friday night and with the beam at 0
degrees I was able to work probably less then a dozen JA's on 40m.

The ice started back up Saturday and even with frequent movement of the tower we
started getting less and less degrees of coverage. When we tried to move the
tower to 15 degrees and the top rings were starting to lag the decision was made
to park the tower at 30 degrees in the early afternoon on Saturday. The antennas
remained there the rest of the contest.

Saturday night we did not work any JA's on 40m and of course none on the higher
bands. It was interesting having the antenna stuck at 30 degrees. We working
some interesting long path VK's that were loud...too bad there was only about 5
of them.

We had a blast and looking forward to the next contest.
