That was a very tough contest. Not sure why, but I had lots of difficulty being
heard on 40 and especially on 80 (where no one seemed to answer CQs). On 40, the
crowning indignity was when I had a good run going and a rare New England mult
station opened up right on my frequency. It would have been OK if I had been
able to work him as a mult, in which case I would have put it down to force
majeure and just moved on -- but I couldn't even get a nibble from him for a Q!
My 80m antenna has been causing problems, and at times I felt like I was QRP on
that band. Oh well, these days happen in contesting...
