Comments:
After running the local UHF-activity yesterday
with the TS-790, I was completely confused with
the front panel of the FT-990. Wondered why noise
did not change while touching the tuner knobs, but
then found I had RX-input connected (Loop-on-Ground).
Thus a late start, and midway CWT the automatic 10 A
fuse blew, as I had not tested running my own pile-up
before in the new shack, while the heater was running.
So while outdoor weather was at -3C, the fuse integrated
heat over the length of the pile-up. Fortunately that
was a quick interrupt and then I went S/P.
After some hectic weeks, solar X-ray activity has nearly
collapsed, and we are waiting for the Aurora of Monday's
C7+ flare. With the Winter Anomaly MUF's are slightly
higher, but at our latitudes the higher bands close
early at sunset.... Cheers/73, Zaba OH1ZAA #1856
