I knew DX conditions were poor going in so my strategy was to focus on NA mults
and hope the band would open up later.
Well, that never happened at VE6WZ.
The band simply refused to open across the pole into Europe. Not one single EU
QSO.
This season since August 15, I have had 580 EU CW QSOs on 160m, so transpolar
conditions have been good, but it seems not for ARRL 160 (or CQWW).
Not a single EU QSO this weekend. CT9 was closest.
I stubbornly stayed on the band this morning till after SR, (after 90% of NA was
in daylight)furiously calling CQ with some deluded hope that magically the
geo-magnetic crap that was blocking my transpolar signal into Europe would blow
away. All to no avail.
Fortunately there was some propagation into Asia and I managed 57 JA, 2 Korea,
and one VR2 and UA0.
I came up horribly short on mults. A clean sweep on NA sections, but only 2
SA.
Thanks for all the calls, and those that heard me.
