Comments:
Not much warm up activity on 40/80, so I started on 80. It must have been a
slow speed session. I didn't get the message or I would have used the
opportunity to try out SO2R. Signals seemed weak and there was less activity
than usual. By 1330 there was almost no activity on 80 meters. Went to 40 at
1335Z and there was lots of action. Multiple callers, but I left a lot on the
table by the end.
Since last CWT my sons came over with an auger and drilled 6 four foot holes for
vertical bases. On Monday we poured concrete for the 80 meter 4 square and two
Titanex verticals. I will have plenty to do at ground level over the winter. I
still have two yagis at the bottom of the tower to put up and need a lot of
trenching to put hardline in the ground to facilitate easier mowing. When the
WX is too cold I have plenty of inside the shack filtering and switching to do.
A big thanks to W9ILY who visited yesterday and encouraged me get some projects
done. We put in a pipe so I could relocate the 30/40 vertical a bit farther
away from the shack, and out of view from my XYL when she sits at the kitchen
table. Enjoyable lunch on the screened in porch. We had some good discussions
on fixing things around the house, garage doors, trapping moles, getting rid of
algae in the window wells, the pingbingding TV antenna. We took a couple rides
in the Gator through the woods and came upon some deer.
