Comments:
After learning that a couple of family events conflicted with several hours of
SS CW I decided to see how well I could do with QRP in the limited time.
I arrived at the W6YX shack a couple hours after the start and Dave, AA6XV, was
already set up and operating high power with one of the club's FT1000MPs. Dave
was attempting to add states for 5BWAS and spent much of his time on 15 so I
didn't make many Qs on 15.
I spent most of my time on 20 where Dave only needed one state to complete his
WAS. Dave had the 40m Yagi early in the evening and when he moved down to 80 and
I began to use it the band had gone long and almost everybody had migrated to
80. The strong stations on 80 were mostly those I'd already worked but I was
able to add many of the close-in mults that couldn't hear me on the higher
bands.
Most of the time I had a better rate by S&P than by CQing but late in the
day on 20 running was more successful. I had to QRT 3 hours before the contest
ended.
I never heard NT and was not able to break the pileups on VA1MM and VO1HP for
MAR and NL.
Thanks for all the Qs and for your patience with the many repeats.
73,
-Mike, N7MH
