SS didnt turn out to be as much fun as anticipated. Friday night I just
couldnt get a run going.I quit after 2 1/2 hours because calling CQ 10
times without an answer just didnt turn me on. A BIG mistake I made this
time was to use the call history file for the first time ever. There were
so many discrepancies in it I decided after 2 hours to just copy the whole
exchange as I always had before.
The bands seemed good Friday night, loud signals, low noise...just too much
CQing to raise an answer. I love to run but had to resort to more S&P than
I like. Up early Sat AM I figured VO1HP would be on 80 as usual and I
nabbed him there. He turned out to be my only VO. Jeff was my only PEI, but
I worked a few Maritimes.
Friday night after working 80 for a while I thought Id see if anyone was on
160. Only 2 or 3 stations but one was NNY! I later worked WW2Y for a second
NNY. There were plenty of KP4s, and KP2M was very prominent. There were
plenty of Ne, SD and ND stations...seemed like more than ever. EWA was
looking like a tough one until W7GB called in, but then worked one or two
more before I quit. I always set a sweep as a goal and spent alot of time
beaming NNW in the hopes that VE8EV or VY1CO would answer but it never
happened, I thought I would make a suggestion to the League this
morning...declare a sweep as having worked every available section....then
they could sell mugs! Alas...I see on 3830 a few guys had a real sweep.
Tnx for the Qs JACK
