Comments:
It was a case of playing "dodge ball" for parts of the contest! This
year it was the Northeast's turn to experience a weather event, last year Barry
& the Gulf Coast. With the forecast for gusts in excess of 60 mph I decided
to bring the tower to its "nesting height". I didn't see any issues in
performance with the US or Europe however not favorable for Japan etc. As
expected Europe was working Europe, I found a spot to run and had my log
overflowing with US Zones. At 4 PM I began to push my way into Europe and log at
a better pace. I kept an on on 10 & 15 and worked a few but did not see an
abundance of activity on 15. It was 5 PM and decided to raise the tower and
re-install the 80 & 160 dipoles. I started to work 40 near sunset and began
to run, however the static crashes were swamping a lot of calls that I usually
can hear. I would have liked to work past midnight but my "antenna
committee" thought I should shut down, something about disturbing the cats
REM sleep. In general I wish this important contest was moved to the early fall
when the atmosphere and Tropical/Hurricanes events are not an issue. Oh, one
more issue, when I tested N1MM it worked fine, a Win10 update changed a few
ports and for three Qso's it didn't change the band, more time lost..
