Comments:
A week ago were camped on a mountain lookout site while social distancing in
Eastern Washington. However this being unplanned we decided to participate from
a less desirable location.
Made a quick dipole supported by a aspen pole about 10 feet.
TS-570 tranciever at 10 watts ( pretty grim)
Anyway no ground wave except VE7BEE a rover KC7JPC/r and a W7 in CN97 who could
not hear me.
Lots of signals heard in short bursts... some calls heard tho not worked.
NO7C and K5KBG within a few minutes of start. Others k6KLY VE7RS K7HRT K6MYC
W4EO/r W1XR N0HJZ and others.
My location was Palmer Mountain BLM at 3100’ using a 100 amp lithium battery
and solar panels.
With the current rules there isn’t much incentive to participate
portable/mountain top in traditional ways.... sad!
