Comments:
Darn! at 1230z, I stopped hearing thunder from a passing storm. At 1258,
however, Bang! from a lighning strike about a mile away. In seconds the antenna
feeds were disconnected and the station shut down. Three times I sat throough
seemingly endless thunder-free periods and each time I reconnected feedlines and
power, a nearby (audibly) thunder clap resounded and I undid what I had
reconnected. After a twenty minute period with no thunder, I reconnected and
powered up and started making contacts, unfortunately, that started at 1354z. In
the next six minutes I managed to make 'my ten' and, almost on the gong of the
end of the CWT, a nearby thunder clap, yet again. This time, feeds and power are
and will remain disconnected until about 1830z. By then, this big storm should
be outahere. Thanks for the Q's and sorry I couldn't provide more to y'alls
logs.
Hasta 19z.
73 and stay well,
dale, kg5u
