Comments:
Was supposed to be out of the country. When plans changed, I opted to
do single band 80 from home. As others have noted, conditions were
good, but single band was a real slog at times, especially without a
nap before the start Friday night.
I'm on 17 acres, but there is a high density subdivision in the
direction of Europe that abuts my property. The noise floor rises 1
-2 S units listening in that direction. I have an NCC-1 to deal with
that, but found days before the contest that one of the channels is
defective so it was of no use. The second night I discovered that
listening on the RX array in the North position, which is about a 20
degree heading, actually worked better. Signals were down but so was
the noise, producing a better overall SNR.
TX Antenna - 8 Circle Vertical (from the ON4UN book - 4 elements
driven at a time)
RX Array - 8 element Hi-Z vertical
