Comments:
Hmmm...Numbers reported to 3830 are those from Win-Test summary sheet. Not
shown is raw QSOs of 3389 and QSO points of 9819. Somehow, the ARRL Log robot
gives me more points and less mults:
QSOs in Log: 3389
Raw Score: 9825 Qpts x 415 Mults = 4,077,375
Looking at the CBSW report, there are four band-countries that would only count
in CQ contests, but I wouldn't expect Win-Test to make that error. It's all in
the log checking, I guess.
What a weekend on the low bands. I made more QSOs with Europe on 160m than I
have ever made in a contest from Texas, even in a 160-only contest! Many thanks
to K0NM who helped me rebuild the NE beverage before the NAQP SSB test! 80m was
very, very good, too, as good as 40m in below-average conditions. The MUF
seemed to go below 7MHz for parts of Europe in the middle of the evening, but
the sunrise and post-sunrise time period was very good.
On the other hand, 10m was a goose egg the first day and only barely opened up
to the Caribbean and Brasil for a few hours on Sunday. 15m was marginal here
while I heard others east of here running or at least working guys I couldn't
hear. Just a few guys worked, mostly from the western edge of Europe. Stations
from the Iberian Peninsula were very loud for hours. While it was open, I tried
to move some guys up there from 20m but they seemed to believe it was dead.
Two firsts for me: a VU called in on 40, and a UN called in on 80! I was very
glad that so many stations far from North America got on for this contest. Even
though their openings might be short, they made it very interesting. I worked a
lot more Russian stations than I was expecting, and there were some cool Far
East stations on. Worst mult missed was V85RH who was booming after our sunrise
on 80, but I got to him too late - he faded away while the pileup raged.
Had to work on Friday so missed out on a nap, otherwise might have gone all 48.
I did sleep during a 2 hour break Saturday afternoon, and a short nap before
sunrise on Sunday morning. Otherwise kept my butt in the chair. I pushed JA
hard on 20 and 40, but there just aren't a lot of them getting on anymore.
Signals were great, even from the 5w guys.
Congratulations to N2IC, who showed us how many mults there were to work
Assisted from W5!
As usual, I learned a number of things this time and recognized I have started
some bad operating habits. More to learn, and need more practice and
discipline!
CU all in the RDXC!
