Comments:

ARRL CW 2020 @ F5MUX with storm Dennis (SO Unlimited HP) 20 hours only.

A few days before the contest, the wind was already strong here in Brittany.
Thursday, the crank-up tower was retracted to 32 ft (10 m) to facilitate
maintenance of the G2800 (the antenna was rotating with the gusts... See video
on QRZ page)

Throughout the competition, the antennas were kept in the low position. Exactly
38 ft (12 m) for the multibander GXP and 32 ft (10 m) for the poor inverted V 80
m, the ends of which were only 50 cm from the ground.

Due to the storm Dennis, the objective was therefore to test the new IC-7610 in
CW as well as the automatic OM Power 2000A +. I was generally seduced by the
performance of this dual receiver and I particularly appreciated the possibility
of being able to switch and monitor another band, with the GXP antenna which
replaces a SteppIR DB18.

Having started late Saturday morning at 8:30 am (0730Z) after an eventful night
the sun had risen for some time. Surprised to contact 21 mults on 80 m band in
just 30 min including W8TK (AZ) 0734 Z, NO6T (CA) 0806 Z, N2IC (NM) 0807 Z... I
then moved on the 40 m band until noon.

The big surprise was on the 15 m, when the band opened on Saturday and very late
here on Sunday. Heard by Gary, ZL2IFB via the long path at 1828Z!

Good pileup on 20 m saturday evening and also sunday night, with two lasts hours
on 7002.5 with the 2 el yagi at only 38 ft (12 m) above the ground. Spotted by
VY0ERC, who offered me the NU multiplier (61 S/P on 7 MHz)

Conclusion: the ARRL CW contest is for me the most pleasant competition. NA
stations are very strong and hear very well. Thank you all for these 20 hours of
pure happiness, even if the weather conditions were not optimal with this storm
Dennis and the 4 power outages.

See you next year and take care yourself.

Lee, F5MUX
