Comments:
I was working on DXLog and wanted to see how some things were working so I got
on for the 160 contest.
Radio: Elecraft K3
Antenna: 80 meter dipole
The SWR was very high and I did not want to damage the K3's transmatch so I
operated with 30 watts out. When I started signals were extremely weak.
Eventually I realized that during my testing the K3 had been set to use the RX
antenna input which has nothing connected. When I fixed that signals were
pretty loud.
I worked the US as far west as 9-land and also a few Caribbean stations.
Amazingly I worked one European - and he was in zone 16!
I really should put up a 160 antenna.
