Comments:
I was a guest op at W9YK, and this was my second cw sweepstakes contest attempt
as a ham . We split the op time on 2 shifts . I took the first from 4pm until
4am and Todd (W9YK) took over the rest of the contest in the morning . I started
on 40M and run , S/p until almost 11 and then switched over to 80M . That got my
rate back up to 70, but I never managed to get a higher rate then that .Maybe
next year I will switch over to 80M much early. Eventually , around 3am 80M slow
down to a halt . Then I moved back to 40M and that allowed me to get more qso's.
At 4AM I had around 390 q's and about 73 sections in the log.
We used a new inverted L antenna at 55 feet that W9YK installed for the contest
and Icom 7300 with 600W out of a solid state amp . Not sure about the brand of
the amp . For logging we used n1mm+ . The bands were ok ( not very noisy ) and
because of that I was able to work surprising number of QRP stations ;o)
thanks for the QSOs and 73
Yanko, NX9G
