Comments:
Headed out to new sites, east of the usual about 5 km. Weather was good.
GPS batteries weak and failing. Chose 2 sites on a main n-s road that had wide
driveway entrances on east side of the road, about 3 km apart Neither was on a
hilltop. Easier to find in the dark. Changed grids several times. Neither had
an ideal view, but took my chances.
Activity was good on both sides of the border, but no real dx heard or worked.
Only worked one rover once, VE3FHM/R to the west of me, loud.
Thanks Graham for going out as a rover. Main setback was distorted strong
signals, think from RF Gain set to max.
3 were cw, rest ssb. No ON4KST assistance and no digi or cell. Packed up at
8:45 and headed home.
Equipment: Icom 910H 75W to 22 elmt K1FO at 12'.
Thanks to the sponsor, SVHFS, and to all who participated and gave out
points.
See you in the Microwave Sprint.
73,
Bill VE3CRU
