Comments:
I spent the first half of the contest at the West Valley Amateur Radio
Association picnic and doing chores around the house. I finally made my first Q
at 2323z. 20M was a hard slog, but things picked up on 40M and it along with 80M
and 160M became fun.
I was amazed at how many new multipliers showed up in the last 2 hours. W7RN
gave me NV on two bands starting at 0430z, HI came at 0415z, MT showed up at
0450z, and CO at 0453.
I started out driving my amp to 100W, but later in the contest I turned it off
and used the K3's amp and tuner. It seemed to work better, and I could get
responses from stations that hadn't heard me before. But maybe it was just the
band getting better.
The party on 160M at 0500z was a blast and resulted in some of my highest rates.
